To snout or not to snout

I wanted to weigh in on this highly controversial and extremely flammable topic.

I don’t confess to have all the answers, and I realize I may lose some readers by taking a stand. But in this time of beginning presidential candidate debate, someone needs to stand up (or sit down, whatever the command) for what they believe.

As you can tell, I take this subject very seriously. This has divided the canine society for generations, and it’s time for the PUG to set the record straight.

Snouts, who needs them?

First of all, they are too long. I often see fellow canis lupus familiaris with snouts and wonder, “I don’t know how you walk around with those things.” Always bumping into things, limiting your field of vision, providing an easy place for adversaries (I’m looking at you hoomin!) to grab hold of you.

What’s that you say? You can smell more effectively? Have you been around my hoomins?!? If I could smell them any better, I would have to move!

And have you looked at yourself in the mirror? I’m sure you haven’t, at least not lately. Now if you want to see an attractive profile, look to the pug. I’m gorgeous! I often see other dogs whispering among themselves as I pass by on my walks, and while I can’t quite hear them, I just know they are saying they wish they could look like Bugs Puggy.

And have you heard my excellent sounds, all made possible by the lack of snout? Pavarotti himself wrote an opera about how envious he was of my voice. OK, it may not have been formally released, or maybe even recorded, but my moomy told me it was true. And she would NEVER lie to me!

We pugs are the masters of the snoutless world. Sure, there are others, like the Boston or the French bulldog, but neither of them have a lack-of-snout that compares to mine! Often imitated, never duplicated.

So this November, when you cast your ballot, place your vote for what really matters! Down with the snouts…
